Welcome to Hacknovations 2.0 ! New Updates Explained

Winters are all over and If you know me, I love sipping coffee in winters.

The only problem is taking the morning shower.

Also, are you excited for Christmas and the new year?

Well, I am! ( Not for my birthday, but because I’ll turn 18 this new year and will finally get to register my startup on paper )

Boy, it’s so good !!

Well, leaving those things apart, I thought it is a good time to give Hacknovations a makeover.

From quite a good time, I was planning to give this a blog a new look and improve it.

So, here are the changes that I introduced.

1st change. New theme and look

As you can figure out without any second glance, the look and feel of this blog are changed. I was not happy with the typography and whole layout thing of the previous theme so I changed it with this one.

The new theme is light weight, and moreover, the theme options helped me delete 4 plugins ( which of course increased the site performance and user experience ).

The theme is now kinda blueish ( which it always has been ). But this time, I also blended in some shades of orange and green.

2nd change. Navigation is made simple

After studying and analyzing my heatmaps, I realized that you guys really don’t use a lot of stuff that I kept in the navigation menu. The primary navigation menu now has fewer options, aimed at allowing readers to explore more in this blog.

The footer menu, however, is for readers who want to know more about this blog or similar things.

category3rd change. Sticky categories in sidebar

By now, you might have noticed that there are three category banners in the sidebar. The only motive I have is to make my readers read more of the content that I put on this blog.

I tried to make them quite like the color scheme of this blog.

I’ve made them sticky so that when you read long articles, you can check out more of these categories.

It’s not the first time that I’ve experimented with these category banners. I earlier used them on some of my client websites and the results were awesome.

I might add one more banner in future if the total post in that category reaches more than 10 posts.

Conclusion : I know I haven’t been paying attention to this blog from a long time. I know it sucks. But, sometimes, situations get quite strange. I have a lot to manage and sparse resources.

But you can be sure that Hacknovations is going to be frequent from now on.

Let me know what do you think about the updates in the comments below.
